The Nitty Gritty of the Pita Pit Winter Race Series

Just before the online entries close for race 2 we thought we would touch base with everyone and explain the series points, so that everyone is clear about how it works.

As we have said from the beginning the more races you do the more points you get but we have given greater weighting on points as the series progresses - we believe that this rewards people who train over winter as well as all of our favorite paddlers  who consistently line up and race!

Essentially we give people points based on where the cross the line across the whole field at an individual race and then we compare the points score in the series competition by your category.   The point score system is at the bottom of this post

In terms of the category points we are going to award cash prizes as follows

If there are more than 15 entrants in a category we will give prizes out for 1,2,3 (at this stage in the series this would cover the OM Ski)
If there are between 10-15 we will give prizes for 1,2
If there are less than 10 we will only give prizes for 1st (at this stage in he series this would cover the OW ski, 40+ ski and 50+ ski as well as ALL the SUP categories, however all of the SUP categories are close to the 10 – 15 threshold and I would expect most of them to grow considerably as the season progresses)

We have also been super stoked with all the U19 paddlers in both SUP and ski fields as well as across the genders.  We are really excited about this and very keen to developed these categories so we have organised quality product prizes for the series winners in both U19 SUP in both men and women and the U19 ski for both men and women.

We also want to acknowledge our top 12’6 SUP paddler and our best club ski paddler in the series with a prize of some description.

Obviously we want to reward all of our place getters in individual categories – but because we are a small series we are limited with prizes and cash we can give out, we are constantly striving for the rite balance rewards depth in our competitive categories and encourages numbers in our emerging categories, hopefully we’ve nailed it!  On that note if anyone is in a position to help out with product prizes please email Katie back – we are happy to negotiate contras!)

So that is the guts of it team, just thought we would put it out there so you could periodize your training appropriately!!
