Very Very Exciting News

We are very excited to inform everyone that we have recently secured a naming sponsor for our upcoming Winter Race Series!

Living up to their mantra of "fresh thinking" Pita Pit have given our race series some thought and decided to get in behind paddling in Auckland, they are officially the principal sponsor of our little series - see I told you it was exciting news!!!

Like us, they believe with their uber healthy, super simple, fast, yummy menu is a good fit with the high pedigree of paddlers in our growing community. So we encourage everyone to support Pita Pit as they are supporting us. Their great stores are located at

Auckland City Metro
Symond Street
Viaduct Harbour
Mairangi Bay

Check out what they are all about on their great website http://pitapit.co.nz

And if that news isn't exciting enough, we are also very excited to announce that we are now officially part of the Canoe Racing New Zealand (CRNZ) "Kayak Krazy" race series. This is also a 10km Winter Race Series (what can I say - great minds think alike!) however CRNZ have races all over the country, namely

Race 1 - Lake Pupuke, North Shore
Race 2 - Mairangi Bay Beach, North Shore
Race 3 - Taipari Strand, Te Atatu
Race 4 - Onepoto Park, Porirua
Race 5 - Clive River, Hawkes Bay
Race 6 - Lake Hood, Ashburton
Race 7 - Waitra River, New Plymouth
Race 8 - Orakei, Auckland City
Race 9 - Lake Hood, Ashburton
Race 10 - Lake Okareka, Rotorua, also national 10km Champs

Surf ski paddlers are encouraged to attend these races and give the kayakers a bit of a scare. Our Mairangi Bay and Orakei races are race 2 and 8 in the series, meaning that you can use the Kayak Krazy points that you gain in our two races towards an overall series ranking in their series.... Confused? Best check it all out on their very styly website

Please also note that we have changed the date of our third race in the series, Takapuna, to the following week; the race date is now Sunday September 25th, which accommodates the Cambridge to Hamilton river race on the 18th.

Catch you all in a couple of weeks at Mairangi Bay.
